    Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule can offer a one-time treatment for thrush symptoms in men and women. The capsule can be very effective as a single dose treatment for vaginal thrush or penile thrush. 

    What Causes Thrush?

    Thrush can be caused when there is disruption in the balance between bacteria and yeasts which naturally live within the vagina.

    This can be caused by a variety of factors like:

    • Medicines and antibiotics
    • The trauma of sexual activity
    • Tampons
    • Stress
    • Perfumed soap, shower gels, or bubble baths
    • Menstruation
    • Wearing tight clothing
    • Pregnancy

    How to Prevent Thrush with Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule?

    Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule can be used to prevent the growth of fungus and reduce itchy, burning sensations. To prevent thrush from recurring:

    • Avoid tight, synthetic clothing
    • Avoid perfumed soaps, gels, bubble baths, vaginal deodorants and douches
    • Change tampons or pads regularly when on your period

    How to use Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule:

    • The full course of treatment consists of a single Canesten Oral Capsule.
    • The capsule is to treat thrush at the site of infection and should be swallowed whole with a glass of water (with or without food).
    • The symptoms of thrush should disappear within two days of treatment.

    Not recommended in patients over 60.

    Caution before using Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule:

    If symptoms persist for more than 7 days, see your doctor. Do not use if you are pregnant, trying for a baby or breast feeding. Consult your doctor or pharmacist if you are taking any medicine other than the contraceptive pill and if you are aged under 16 or over 60.

    Possible Side Effects of Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule: Like all medicines, Canesten Oral Capsule can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them.

    As with all medicines, some people may be allergic to the capsule. If you are allergic, a reaction will occur soon after you have taken it. If you experience an allergic reaction, stop using this product and tell your doctor straight away or contact the Accident and Emergency Department of your nearest hospital. Signs of an allergic reaction may include:

    • Rash.
    • Swallowing or breathing problems.
    • Swelling of your lips, face, throat or tongue.
    • Weakness, feeling dizzy or faint.
    • Nausea.

    The most common side effects include:

    • Sickness or stomach discomfort.
    • Diarrhoea and wind.

    Each Canesten Thrush Oral Capsule contains:

    The active ingredient Fluconazole 150 mg. Each capsule also contains: lactose monohydrate & sodium lauryl sulfate.
